The Seamstress

About the Show

A brand new script chosen for the National AACT NewPlayFestival! The Seamstress, is set in 1916 when women’s rights were far from equal and wives were required to be submissive to their husbands. Andorra Hamilton, a young and highly sought after seamstress, is hired by Cynthia McFarland, the wife of a wealthy, albeit abusive and licentious husband. As her services include taking up residence with clients, Andorra witnesses the unraveling of the abusive threads of this marriage, and that not all things are designed to be mended.
