Come Take a Walk with SYLVIA
Hickory Community Theatre is bringing Scholar Kim Stinson to Patrick Beaver Memorial Library on Thursday, October 19, 2017 at 6:30 p.m. to review an audience guide about Sylvia by A.R. Gurney, the theatre’s next play performed in the Firemen’s Kitchen. This comedy is the hilarious story of a man who brings home a dog he found in the city park, much to the dismay of his wife. He loves Sylvia, the dog, but she does not! Comedy, and a few tears, ensue as Sylvia (played by Sarah Jessica Parker in the Broadway production) is groomed, trained and “vetted,” and tries to earn a place in her new home.
Scholar Kim Stinson is the North Carolina Regional Representative of The Dramatists Guild of America. She holds an MFA in playwriting from Spalding University, an MA in theatre from Miami University, and a BFA in technical theatre from UNC School of the Arts. Stinson currently runs the theatre program at Catawba Valley Community College. In April 2015, she won the CVCC Excellence in Teaching Award.
This program on October 19th at 6:30 p.m. is free and open to the public. Registration is not required. For more information, please call 304-0500 ext. 7235. Patrick Beaver Memorial Library is located at 375 3rd Street NE on the SALT Block.
