Filled with fairy tale romance and a fearless young woman's quest for truth, the epic Broadway musical ANASTASIA plays in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT this Friday and Saturday, December 15th and 16th.
Making an unforgettable debut as Anya/Anastasia in this production is Angelina Bassi.
A resident of Kersnersville, Bassi recently returned to North Carolina after spending nearly a year living and working in Switzerland and Germany. Très excitant, Anya might say. In her free time she enjoys hiking, drawing and painting.
Bassi received a Bachelor of Music degree -- including studies in opera, classical music, German, French and Italian -- from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts. There, she performed in CLAMENZA DI TITO, VOLPONE, CAPTAIN LOVELOCK, LINDA DI CHAMOUNIX, and Bernstein's MASS. Other area performances include LA TRAVIATA and SUOR ANGELICA with the Piedmont Opera, RODGERS & HAMMERSTEIN'S CINDERELLA at High Point Theatre, and INTO THE WOODS at The Carolina Theater.
For Bassi, the opportunity to play Anastasia is a fairy tale finally come true. "I grew up watching the 90s animated movie. Anya has been a huge dream role since I found out it was adapted to the stage. Anya's tenacity, courage and love for home and family are very inspiring."
Though new to Hickory Community Theatre, Bassi admires what she's seen and experienced so far-- a tightly knit, loving and respectful environment.
Performances of ANASTASIA are Friday and Saturday, December 15th & 16th at 7:30PM. Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.
Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.
ANASTASIA is rated G. All audiences admitted.
ANASTASIA is produced in association with Catawba Valley Health System. The Hickory Community Theatre’s 75th season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive, SunBelt Xpress and Green Park Dentistry. HCT is a funded affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
