A Journey Together: Eric Seale is Vlad in ANASTASIA

A sweeping musical adventure of one woman's quest to discover her identity and her destiny, ANASTASIA plays in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT from December 1st through December 16th.

Whether skydiving, crossing swords with pirates, or wrestling wizards, HCT Artistic Director Eric Seale has had as many adventures on stage as he’s had behind the scenes. In ANASTASIA, he’s returned to the stage as conniving nobleman Vlad Popov.

A son of the Bluegrass State, Kentucky-born Seale has directed over 80 plays and produced around 110 plays since starting his professional theatre career. Before coming to HCT in 2019, Seale was a co-founder and executive producer of The Balagula Theatre. He also served five seasons as artistic director of Actors Guild of Lexington, and three seasons as the artistic managing director of Central Kentucky Theatre.

As an actor, his credits include RIPCORD and NOISES OFF at HCT, CYRANO DE BERGERAC at Old Colony Players, DEPARTURES, LIVING ON LOVE, A COMEDY OF ERRORS, THE DIVINERS, SEMINAR, A MIDSUMMER NIGHT’S DREAM, LOVE’S LABOUR’S LOST, and THE AGONY AND THE ECSTASY OF STEVE JOBS.

Among Seale’s numerous directing and designing credits at HCT are KINKY BOOTS, MACBETH, SOMETHING ROTTEN, PUFFS, THE PIRATE QUEEN, BY THE BEAUTIFUL BEAUTIFUL SEA, and THE WEIR. Other productions of note include SPAMALOT, THE 25th ANNUAL PUTNAM COUNTY SPELLING BEE, A LIFE IN THE THEATRE, KING LEAR, END DAYS, and THE CLEAN HOUSE. He will next helm RIDE THE CYCLONE and the world premiere of EATING BLACKBERRIES for HCT.

Performances of ANASTASIA are Friday and Saturday, December 15th & 16th at 7:30PM.

Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

ANASTASIA is rated G. All audiences admitted.

ANASTASIA is produced in association with Catawba Valley Health System. The Hickory Community Theatre’s 75th season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive, SunBelt Xpress and Green Park Dentistry. HCT is a funded affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
