A Journey Together: Joy McManus-Rodgers is the DOWAGER EMPRESS in ANASTASIA

A resilient young woman sets out to discover her past with the help of two con men, in an enchanting adventure that journeys from post-Revolution Russia to Paris in the Belle Époque. The Broadway smash hit ANASTASIA wraps up its run in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT this Friday and Saturday, December 15th and 16th.

Returning to the HCT stage for her 21st show is Joy McManus-Rodgers as the Dowager Empress.

Joy McManus-Rodgers made her HCT debut in the original musical CAUGHT IN THE ACT in 1981, for which she won the HCT Kay Award for Best Actress in a Musical. She also received an Outstanding Ensemble Award at the 2011 Kay Awards for THE FULL MONTY, and appeared most recently in SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE. Other area credits include GOOD OLE GIRLS, QUILTERS and SWEENEY TODD at The Green Room Community Theatre.

Says McManus-Rodgers of her HCT experience: “It’s the people, the diversity of the community. Coming here is like finding your tribe. This is especially evident in the young people.”

Performances of ANASTASIA are Friday and Saturday, December 15th & 16th at 7:30PM.

Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

ANASTASIA is rated G. All audiences admitted.

ANASTASIA is produced in association with Catawba Valley Health System. The Hickory Community Theatre’s 75th season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive, SunBelt Xpress and Green Park Dentistry. HCT is a funded affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
