Hunter S. Thompson once quipped: “Politics is the art of controlling your environment.” In the fast-paced, foul-mouthed satire POTUS, seven women risk life, liberty and personal sanity to keep an out-of-control President from plunging the world into political chaos.
POTUS plays in the Firemen’s Kitchen at HCT from October 20th through November 4th.
Returning to the Hickory Community Theatre stage as Dusty, the presidential paramour who contains surprising multitudes, is Kay Award winner Hannah Nuhfer.
A resident of Lincolnton, Nuhfer is a Happy Appy who earned her degree in English Secondary Education & Theatre from Appalachian State University. A teacher at North Lincoln High School (Go, Knights!), Nuhfer runs the school's Drama Club and Chamber Choir, and directed Blumey Award-winning productions of ANASTASIA and INTO THE WOODS.
Nuhfer made her Hickory Community Theatre as Kitty in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, for which she received a Kay Award for Outstanding Featured Performer. She has been awarded for her performances in THE ROCKY HORROR SHOW and ROCK OF AGES at Lincolnton Theatre Guild, where she recently directed DISASTER! Nuhfer has performed in 9 TO 5, MAMMA MIA! and A MIDSUMMER NIGHT'S DREAM at The Green Room Community Theatre, where she also directed a MTA-nominated production of HELLO, DOLLY!
"I appreciate HCT's willingness to choose shows that push boundaries," says Nuhfer. "Dusty is so fun."
Performances of POTUS are Fridays and Saturdays, October 20th through November 4th at 7:30 PM; Sundays, October 22nd and 29th at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, November 2nd at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.
Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.
POTUS is rated R for strong language and adult situations. Consider yourself warned. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian.
