From album to stage to screen, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR has enraptured audiences with its unique musical take on the life, works, and death of Jesus. Now, for your Lent-ertainment, the iconic rock opera finishes its run in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT this weekend, April 17th through April 19th.
Returning to the Pamela Livingstone Stage as Simon Zealotes, the disciple with song, dance, and rebellion in his heart, is Daniel Keith.
A Charlotte resident and Spa Manager for Face Foundrié-South End, Keith made his Hickory Community Theatre debut as Benny in IN THE HEIGHTS.
Keith followed up by his appearance in Out There Theatre Company's production of HEATHERS. His Charlotte area credits include PUFFS, RENT, and BYE BYE BIRDIE at Piedmont Players Theatre, SEUSSICAL at Matthews Playhouse, and GUYS AND DOLLS at Central Piedmont Arts. He is a two-time Broadway World Awards nominee for Best Actor in a Musical.
“Ever since I saw this show on tour, I knew it was a show I wanted to do," says Keith of the show. He is equally excited about to be playing the fiery follower Simon Zealotes ("His song! his attitude!"), and for the welcoming community and diverse shows he finds at HCT.
Performances of JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR are this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, April 17th through April 19th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for youth and students.
Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is rated PG-13. Some material may not be appropriate for children under 13.
JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR is produced in association with MOReON Productions. The Hickory Community Theatre’s 76th season is sponsored by A Cleaner World, Belle Age, Covington Dental, LifeRootz, Protection Products, Inc., and Shurtape Technologies. HCT is a Funded Affiliate of Arts Culture Catawba and receives additional support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
