Filled with song and spectacle, Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice's hit musical JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR examines the passion, perils, and sacrifice of Jesus Christ's final days. It finishes its run in the at HCT this weekend, April 17th-19th.
Whether in a lead or supporting role, Kay Award winner Jared Wachsmuth's versatility is always on display. Here, he is part of a hard-working Ensemble that brings the show's many emotional twists and turns to life.
A Claremont resident, Wachsmuth works at Hamrick's department store. In his free time he enjoys cooking, drawing, video gaming, and woodworking.
Wachsmuth made his Hickory Community Theatre debut in BRIGHT STAR, for which he won an Outstanding Newcomer Kay Award. Other HCT credits include THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS, IN THE HEIGHTS, RIDE THE CYCLONE, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, EVITA, PUFFS, and SOMETHING ROTTEN (for which he won an Outstanding Featured Male Kay Award). Wachsmuth was also awarded the Kay Award for Technical Volunteer of the Year for the 2023-2024 season. His area credits include DISASTER! at Lincolnton Theatre Guild, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at Little Theatre of Gastonia, HELLO, DOLLY! and MAMMA MIA! at The Green Room Community Theatre, and NEXT TO NORMAL at Lenoir-Rhyne University.
As the "actor most likely to make character choices that make other people laugh," Wachsmuth is grateful for the ensemble opportunity presented by this production. "It's dance heavy and I get to play multiple roles." Wachsmuth is similarly grateful to be performing alongside multiple friends in this show, and that HCT continues to push boundaries in their creative choices.
