Paul Matthews is an average guy who likes pizza, movies...ya know, average guy things. But when an alien lifeforce infects his hometown, Paul finds himself in a deadly battle with one thing he knows he dislikes: musical theatre.
From Starkid Productions comes the hilarious musical horror-comedy THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS. A love letter to B-movies and the saving power of song, THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS plays on the Pamela Livingstone Stage in the Jeffers Theatre, September 6th through September 14th.
Returning to the Jeffers Theatre, as musicals-averse Paul Matthews, is multi-Kay Award winner Branden Nuhfer.
A lifelong resident of Denver, NC, and teller at People's Bank, Nuhfer most recently appeared at HCT as Charlie Price in KINKY BOOTS. He has also appeared at HCT as Robert Martin in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, Nigel Bottom in SOMETHING ROTTEN (for which he won a Kay Award for Outstanding Lead Male), and Margaret Mead in HAIR (for which he received a Kay Award for Outstanding Male Newcomer). Other area credits include DISASTER! at Lincolnton Theatre Guild, as well as HELLO, DOLLY! and THE LITTLE MERMAID at The Green Room Community Theatre.
"I love his journey throughout the show," says Nuhfer of his character. "I love this show and wanted to do it with my friends." A Swag Club member and self-described "tinkerer of trinkets," Nuhfer also considers himself "the actor most likely to find a neat rock." Whether that rock contains a malevolent musical alien is all part of life's mystery.
Performances of THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS are Fridays and Saturdays, September 6th through September 14th at 7:30 PM; Sunday, September 8th at 2:30PM; and Thursday, September 12th at 7:30PM. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for youth and students.

THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS is rated PG-13 for adult language and cartoon violence.
