Join Us (And Sing): Jared Wachsmuth is Ted Spankoffski in THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS

An invading alien hive mind has turned the citizens of Hatchetfield into singing and dancing "zombies". Now, it's up to a scrappy band of misfits to stop the show-stopping apocalypse from taking over the world.

From Starkid Productions, creators of A VERY POTTER MUSICAL and THE TRAIL TO OREGON!, comes the sinister musical sensation THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS. Hilarious, horrifying, and heartbreaking, THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS finishes its run in the Jeffers Theatre this weekend.

Returning to the Pamela Livingstone Stage, as office flirt and bully Ted Spankoffski, is multi-Kay Award winner Jared Wachsmuth.

A fan of frogs, endless milkshakes, and the Pokemon universe, Wachsmuth made his HCT debut in 2018's BRIGHT STAR, for which he won an Outstanding Newcomer Kay Award. He has also appeared in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, EVITA, PUFFS, SOMETHING ROTTEN (for which he won an Outstanding Featured Male Kay Award), RIDE THE CYCLONE, and IN THE HEIGHTS. Wachsmuth was also awarded the Kay Award for Technical Volunteer of the Year for the 2023-2024 season. Other area credits include DISASTER! (his previous turn as a character named "Ted") at Lincolnton Theatre Guild, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at Little Theatre of Gastonia, HELLO, DOLLY! and MAMMA MIA! at The Green Room Community Theatre, and NEXT TO NORMAL at Lenoir-Rhyne University.

Wachsmuth continues to appreciate living in an area that is so bountiful in its creative opportunities.

Performances of THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, September 12th through 14th at 7:30PM. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS is rated PG-13 for adult language and cartoonish violence.

The Hickory Community Theatre’s 76th season is sponsored by Protection Products, Inc. and LifeRootz. HCT is a Funded Affiliate of Arts Culture Catawba and receives additional support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
