Join Us (And Sing): Journey Cable is Charlotte Sweetly in THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS

An invading alien hive mind has turned the citizens of Hatchetfield into singing and dancing "zombies". Now, it's up to a scrappy band of misfits to stop the show-stopping apocalypse from taking over the world.

From Starkid Productions, creators of A VERY POTTER MUSICAL and THE TRAIL TO OREGON!, comes the comically sinister musical sensation THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS. Hilarious, horrifying, and heartbreaking, THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS plays on the Pamela Livingstone Stage in the Jeffers Theatre, September 6th through September 14th.

Returning to the Hickory Community Theatre stage, as the endearingly anxious Charlotte Sweetly, is Kay Award winner Journey Cable.

A Denver, NC resident and Data Analytics Specialist for LoanBoss, Cable is "Aunt" to Cheeze-it ("A wittle kitten who is a hellion") and enjoys rock climbing and pottery in her free time. Cable last appeared in the Jeffers Theatre as Phoebe D'Ysquith in A GENTLEMEN'S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER, for which she received a Kay Award for Outstanding Supporting Performer in a Musical. Other credits include THE DROWSY CHAPERONE at HCT, DISASTER! at Lincoln Theatre Guild, and HELLO, DOLLY! at The Green Room Community Theatre.

"I have been a big fan of Starkid for while," Says Cable, "and this in one of my favorite shows from them. [Charlotte] is such a funny character with a great song."

For Cable, being surrounded by friends and creativity at Hickory Community Theatre has been a rewarding experience. "Everyone is such a sweetie and the theatre here is phenomenal." True to her character, though, Cable is an actor most likely not to answer a "Most Likely To" question: "LOL. This just makes me anxious."

Performances of THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS are Fridays and Saturdays, September 6th through September 14th at 7:30 PM; Sunday, September 8th at 2:30PM; and Thursday, September 12th at 7:30PM. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS is rated PG-13  for adult language and cartoon violence.

The Hickory Community Theatre’s 76th season is sponsored by Protection Products, Inc. and LifeRootz. HCT is a Funded Affiliate of Arts Culture Catawba and receives additional support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
