Join Us (And Sing): Justin Thomas is Sam Sweetly in THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS

Paul Matthews is an average guy who likes pizza, movies...ya know, average guy things. But when an alien lifeforce infects his hometown, Paul finds himself in a deadly battle with one thing he knows he dislikes: musical theatre.

From Starkid Productions comes the hilarious musical horror-comedy THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS. A love letter to B-movies and the saving power of song, THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS finishes its run in the Jeffers Theatre this weekend, September 12th through September 14th.

Returning to the Pamela Livingtone Stage, as not-so-saccharine police officer Sam Sweetly, is Justin Thomas.

A Lenoir resident, Thomas holds an Associates Degree from Caldwell Community College, and is "halfway through" his degree studies at Appalachian State University, where he works as a Financial Aid Admin Support Specialist.

Thomas has been active in the area theatre scene for many years. Previous appearances at Hickory Community Theatre include THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, NOISES OFF, SHAKESPEARE IN LOVE, a Kay Award-winning turn as Outstanding Character Actor in THE FOREIGNER, HAMLET, AS YOU LIKE IT, and as part of the Kay Award-winning Ensemble in RAGTIME. Thomas has also been seen in INTO THE WOODS, JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR and FROM THIS DAY FORWARD at Old Colony Players, and in DRINKING HABITS at Foothills Performing Arts.

Thomas is grateful to have finally convinced his wife Andie Thomas to perform at HCT in this production.

Performances of THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, September 12th through 14th at 7:30PM. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS is rated PG-13 for adult language and cartoonish violence.

The Hickory Community Theatre’s 76th season is sponsored by Protection Products, Inc. and LifeRootz. HCT is a Funded Affiliate of Arts Culture Catawba and receives additional support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
