Join Us (And Sing): Justin Wilson is Bill Woodward in THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS

Everything seemed normal in the city of Hatchetfield. Until...people began singing...and dancing. Just like that, a musical pandemic is sweeping the entire city. Now, it’s up to an average guy (who doesn’t like musicals) and his friends to save humanity from a musical apocalypse.

You'll laugh! You'll scream! You'll never look at musicals the same way again! From Starkid Productions comes the hit musical horror-comedy, THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS, now playing in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT, September 6th through September 14th.

Returning to the Jeffers Theatre as Bill Woodward, a divorced dad trying to reconnect with his daughter amidst the musical mayhem, is multi-Kay Award winner Justin Wilson.

Wilson has been living in Hickory for over five years, and has stayed busy with studies at Lenoir-Rhyne University, working at Olde Hickory Station, and performing in area theatres. He made his HCT debut in SOMETHING ROTTEN, for which he received a Kay Award for Outstanding Male Character Performer. He went on to appear at HCT in THE PIRATE QUEEN, THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, as part of the Pamela Livingstone Award-winning ensemble in THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, A GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER, RIDE THE CYCLONE, and ANASTASIA. Other area credits include FOOTLOOSE at Theatre Statesville, LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at Little Theatre of Gastonia, and NEXT TO NORMAL at Lenoir-Rhyne University.

For Wilson, performing in THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS is just the creative opportunity he's been longing for. "I love Starkid musicals and believe they're some of the funniest shows out there. Bill is so genuinely himself that it's hilarious."

It's the kind of artistic environment that Wilson has come to expect from HCT. "The theatre feels like a home away from home. That's something refreshing."

Performances of THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS are Fridays and Saturdays, September 6th through September 14th at 7:30 PM; Sunday, September 8th at 2:30PM; and Thursday, September 12th at 7:30PM. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

THE GUY WHO DIDN'T LIKE MUSICALS is rated PG-13 for adult language and cartoonish violence.

The Hickory Community Theatre’s 76th season is sponsored by Protection Products, Inc. and LifeRootz. HCT is a Funded Affiliate of Arts Culture Catawba and receives additional support from the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
