In Memphis, Tennessee, four close friends join forces for a local cooking contest. But an unexpected visitor soon has the kitchen simmering with more than just hot sauce. Winner of the 2021 Pulitzer Prize, Katori Hall's THE HOT WING KING plays in the Jeffers Theatre January 31st through February 8th.
Making his Hickory Community Theatre debut as Cordell, a culinary crusader searching for the perfect new hot wing recipe, is Zakyus Carson.
A lifelong resident of Hickory, Carson currently works at Chicken Salad Chic and is pursuing studies in marketing and advertising. As to what drew him to THE HOT WING KING and Hickory Community Theatre, Carson says: "I wanted to be in a production that centers around topics I can relate to. I love walking into a theatre where everyone can be everything."
Performances of THE HOT WING KING are Fridays and Saturdays, January 31st through February 8th at 7:30 PM; Sunday, February 2nd at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, February 6th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.
Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.
THE HOT WING KING is rated R. Audience under 17 requires adult guidance.
THE HOT WING KING is produced in association with Arts Culture Catawba.
