Meet Ensemble member Sierra Doyle-Rios of THE PIRATE QUEEN

THE PIRATE QUEEN, a musical saga based on the life of Irish Chieftain and pirate Grace O'Malley, closes out Hickory Community Theatre’s 73rd season June 3rd-18th.

Retaking the HCT stage by storm is Ensemble member Sierra Doyle-Rios.

Originally from American Canyon, California ("Gateway to the Napa Valley"), Doyle-Rios has lived in the Hickory area for over 20 years, where she currently works as a seamstress for King Hickory Furniture.

Doyle-Rios has been a familiar presence on stage in recent years. Other Ensemble roles include HAIR and SOMETHING ROTTEN at Hickory Community Theatre, and JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR at Old Colony Players. Her principle and supporting roles include Shelly in THE JUNGLE FUN ROOM at HCT, Aquata in THE LITTLE MERMAID at The Green Room Community Theatre, and Sister Mary Catherine in DRINKING HABITS at Foothills Performing Arts (for which she won a "Best Character Actress" Willy Award).

On the appeal of THE PIRATE QUEEN to her, Doyle-Rios explains: "Irish pirates. What else could I ask for?" She appreciates the friendships she has made in her time at HCT, and though she describes herself as "the most boring person I know," Doyle-Rios can now add sword fighting to a list of hobbies that include knitting and gardening.

Performances of THE PIRATE QUEEN are Fridays and Saturdays, June 3rd through June18th at 7:30 PM; Sunday, June 12th at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, June 16th at 7:30 PM.
