Meet the MEMPHIS cast: Sebastian Bannister as Perry Como/Ensemble

Brimming with heart and soul, MEMPHIS and its Tony Award-winning tale of love and music plays at Hickory Community Theatre through September 10th.

Returning to the HCT stage in this production, as Perry Como and an Ensemble member, is Sebastian Bannister.

A resident of Charlotte, Bannister currently attends South Iredell High School (Go Vikings!), where he recently appeared in HAIRSPRAY. His previous credits at HCT are THE LION KING JR. and THE BEST CHRISTMAS PAGEANT EVER. Other area credits include FROZEN JR. at The Green Room Community Theatre, and ALADDIN JR. at Mooresville Children's Theatre.

Bannister cites a strong interest in the cultural and musical history of MEMPHIS as what drew him to the show. He very much enjoys the time he's spent with the cast and crew, and has been most delighted by his cameo as pop sensation and entertainment celebrity Perry Como.

Performances of MEMPHIS are Fridays and Saturdays, September 2nd through September 10th at 7:30 PM; Sunday, September 4th at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, September 8th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

Due to the continued risk of COVID-19 in Catawba County, and in accordance with the latest guidance from the CDC, the Hickory Community Theatre encourages patrons to wear a mask or other face covering while inside the building.

MEMPHIS is rated PG-13 for adult language. Audiences are also advised that there is other language particular to the time which may be upsetting.

The HCT’s 74th season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive, SunBelt Xpress and Frye Regional Medical Center. HCT is a funded affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County. MEMPHIS is supported by the United Arts Council of Catawba County through the North Carolina Arts Council, a division of the Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, with funding from the State of North Carolina and from the National Endowment for the Arts. The City of Hickory Community Relations Council is an Associate Producer.
