When eccentric candy creator Willy Wonka opens his factory to five lucky children, the result is an unbelievable journey of sight and sound, taste and character. A dazzling new musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s iconic novel, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY plays in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT November 29th through December 14th.
Whether strapped to a recliner or short-circuiting in a amusement park booth, Kay Award winner Cory Bragg keeps it salty. That's why we're grateful for his return in this production as put-upon papa Mr. Salt.
Bragg, a Maryland native, has lived in the Hickory area for eight years, where he works as a Housing Specialist for ALFA. He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Bowie State University, enjoys hiking in his free time, and is a miniatures-loving member of the Catawba Valley Tabletop Gaming group.
Bragg, who considers himself "the actor most likely to cuss," made a memorable f#@%in' HCT debut as Kyle in EXIT PURSUED BY A BEAR, for which he received a Kay Award for Outstanding Featured Performer in a Play. Other acting credits include FOOTLOOSE for Theatre Statesville, MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS and A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE at The Green Room Community Theatre, OSLO at Three Bone Theatre, and BUG at the Warehouse Performing Arts Center.
Performances of CHARLIE & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY are Fridays and Saturdays, November 29th through December 14th at 7:30PM; Sundays, December 1st and 8th at 2:30PM, and, Thursday, December 12th at 7:30PM. Tickets are $18 for adults, $12 for youth and students.
Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.
CHARLIE & THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY is rated PG. Some material may not be suitable for children. Parental guidance is suggested.
