When eccentric candy creator Willy Wonka opens his factory to five lucky children, the result is an unbeleivable journey of sight and sound, taste and character. A dazzling new musical adaptation of Roald Dahl’s iconic novel, CHARLIE AND THE CHOCOLATE FACTORY plays at HCT December 6th through December 14th.
Returning to the stage with matriarchal wit and wisdom, is Diane Albers as Grandma Georgina and Ensemble member.
After kicking around Connecticut and Virginia for a minute, Albers has lived in Hickory for over twenty years. Now retired, she enjoys camping, crocheting, and spending time with family.
"HCT is my safe, happy place. A true community theatre," says Albers, who first appeared at HCT doing improv comedy with Now Are The Foxes. Since then she has appeared in such productions as 9 TO 5, DR. DOOLITTLE, WILLY WONKA, ELF THE MUSICAL, RIPCORD, and THE LION, THE WITCH AND THE WARDROBE. She was also part of the Pamela Livingstone Award-winning ensemble in EXIT LAUGHING. When not performing on stage, Albers can also be found hustling backstage—as stage manager, stage crew, or as a light/sound board operator—during the regular season, as well as for special events.
"I was in WILLY WONKA JR. eleven years ago and loved the experience," says Albers, who describes herself as "the actor most likely dance when no one is watching." So...be watching.
