airness noun : a state of being in which an air guitarist transcends the moment and medium to achieve pure artistic expression
Kickstart your music-loving heart with Hickory Community Theatre's production of Chelsea Marcantel’s AIRNESS. This love letter to the world of competitive air guitar shreds up the Firemen's Kitchen from May 10th through May 18th.
Kicking ass and breaking hearts with her amazing air guitar technique is Holli Armstrong as Cannibal Queen.
A longtime Catawba County resident, Armstrong works as a Personal Enrichment Coordinator at Western Piedmont Community College. She is a dedicated cosplayer in her free time—dressing up as famous people, personalities, and characters, and attending various area and regional conventions.
Armstrong's previous HCT acting credits include ANASTASIA, THE ROCKY HORROR PICTURE SHOW, ROCK OF AGES, MACBETH and THE PIRATE QUEEN, to go along with her numerous crew credits. She has also performed in CYRANO DE BERGERAC and THE HUNCHBACK OF NOTRE DAME at Old Colony Players, STEEL MAGNOLIAS, MARY POPPINS and AS YOU LIKE IT at The Green Room Community Theatre, THE COMEDY OF ERRORS at Lenoir-Rhyne University, A CHRISTMAS CAROL at Theatre Statesville, and CAROLINA PUMPKINS SPELLTACULAR with Sigmon Theatrical.
Armstrong is grateful for the creative opportunities provided by Hickory Community Theatre, particularly with such a stylistically new show like AIRNESS. She also encourages audience members to be alert during the show, as she considers herself the actor most likely to trip.
Performances of AIRNESS are Fridays and Saturdays, May 10th through May 18th at 7:30 PM; Sunday, May 12th at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, May 16th at 7:30 PM. Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.
Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.
AIRNESS is rated R. Under 17 requires adult guardian.
