'Tis the cast of CHRISTMAS: Melinda Cassell as Calliope & Britannia

A grand Christmas children's adventure—filled with elves, mice, and everything naughty and nice—'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS plays in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT December 10th & 17th.

Returning to the HCT stage for this holiday special event is Melinda Cassell as Calliope and Britannia.

Currently a student at Discovery High School, Cassell is a lifelong Hickory native who enjoys theatre, singing, drawing, teaching herself how to play piano, and leveling up in karate (she is currently a brown belt).

Cassell has been active both on stage and backstage. She recently appeared at HCT in LITTLE MERMAID JR. and SEUSSICAL JR., both with Hickory Ballet & Performing Arts, as well as performing in THE WIZARD OF OZ with Clater-Kaye Theatreworks. Cassell has also been a light board operator for MACBETH (HCT) and part of the running crew for HELLO, DOLLY! (The Green Room Community Theatre).

"It was kind of a last-minute decision," Cassell says about joining 'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS, "but I wanted to audition for something with my friends, and I thought this show would be fun." As for the show and HCT, Cassell says she appreciates being able to play such a sarcastic character in a venue that makes its shows so accessible to all audiences.

Performances of 'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS are Saturdays, December 10th and 17th at 2:30 PM. Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students. Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

Please note that this event is an additional presentation and not part of the 74th Season. Season passes are not eligible for use for this event.

'TWAS THE NIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS is rated G. It is produced in association with Corning Optical Communications. HCT is a funded affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
