Twisted Tales: Justin Wilson is Ricky Potts in RIDE THE CYCLONE

When six members of the St. Cassian Chamber Choir meet a tragic demise while riding a roller coaster, they find themselves in limbo literally singing for a second chance at life. Buckle up for the supernatural musical sensation RIDE THE CYCLONE, playing in the Jeffers Theatre at HCT from January 19th through February 10th. You may see before you an ordinary man, but it is in fact multi-Kay Award winner Justin Wilson, returning to the Hickory Community Theatre stage as Ricky Potts.

Wilson has resided in Hickory for the past five years, splitting time between studies at Lenoir-Rhyne University, serving customers at Olde Hickory Station, and pursuing his passion for theatre. He made his HCT debut as Robin in SOMETHING ROTTEN, for which he received a Kay Award for Outstanding Male Character Performer. He went on to appear as an Ensemble member in THE PIRATE QUEEN, as Gangster #2 in THE DROWSY CHAPERONE, as part of the Pamela Livingstone Award-winning ensemble in THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, as Monty Navarro in A GENTLEMAN’S GUIDE TO LOVE AND MURDER, and most recently as the dashing Dmitry in ANASTASIA. Other area credits include LITTLE SHOP OF HORRORS at Little Theatre of Gastonia, and NEXT TO NORMAL at Lenoir-Rhyne University.

"Ricky's a rock star," Wilson says about his role in RIDE THE CYCLONE. And while Ricky may also be a "space age bachelor man," Wilson is happy to come home to his theatre family at HCT.

Performances of RIDE THE CYCLONE are Fridays and Saturdays, January 19th through February 10th at 7:30 PM; Sundays, January 28th and February 4th at 2:30 PM; and, Thursday, February 8th at 7:30 PM.

Tickets are $16 for adults, $10 for youth and students.

Tickets are available online at hickorytheatre.org, or by phone at 828-328-2283. The theatre box office is open from 12-5 PM Wednesday through Friday, or one half-hour before a performance.

RIDE THE CYCLONE is presented without intermission. It is rated R for mature subject matter.

RIDE THE CYCLONE is produced in association with Sandra Clay and George Clay III. The Hickory Community Theatre’s 75th season is sponsored by Paramount Automotive, SunBelt Xpress and Green Park Dentistry. HCT is a funded affiliate of the United Arts Council of Catawba County.
